As many of you know, I returned to the world of freelance graphic design in order to pursue a degree in fashion design on a part-time basis. I’m doing a bit of juggling, it’s true, but I’m really good at that.
In the past four months, I’ve finished three courses (Design Principles, Construction and Advanced Corsetry) and began two more (Patternmaking and Drafting, and Fashion Illustration). Though I began the pattern making and drafting course only two months ago, I’ve been putting an amazing amount of effort in, in between freelancing and raising two small kids. I’m really proud to say that as of this evening I have officially made it through the first major hurdle in my pattern making coursework: drafting and constructing 20 styles of skirts. This is coursework that normally takes most people 4-6 months to get through. So I’m feeling pretty good about it. As of this evening, I’ve been given the go-ahead to design and construct my two final skirts for formal critique and pattern release. Not to worry, they’ll be completely wearable and will have POCKETS!!! We need more functional pockets.
Never underestimate a determined woman.
Well done! Can’t wIt to see the results.
