I am an artist with a true passion for color. Although I began as an illustrator and graphic designer, I have always had a love for fashion, especially historical fashion. I love the tangibility of working with fabric—each garment and accessory I make is truly one of a kind.

Enameled Details

January 7, 2020 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

As I work on designs for my final line (it’s fast approaching!) I’ve been looking for bits and pieces that remind me of my trip to Paris. The goal is to incorporate vintage elements and styling into my more modern garments. This weekend I lucked upon a stash of art deco buckles. Presumably they are…… Continue reading Enameled Details

J’aime Paris

November 12, 2019November 25, 2019 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

It’s been ages since my last post. Things have gotten really busy, in a productive and inspiring way. I finished my jeans and, not only do they fit, I got to wear them all over Paris. And yet, I still don’t have a photo of myself in them. It was my first solo trip—going to…… Continue reading J’aime Paris

A little last-minute sewing

October 29, 2019 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

Wracking my brain trying to figure out what to be for Halloween this year, I decided to be a darker version of myself and go as a hex-witch. I’ve just started under a new boss who has a pretty good sense of humor, so I spent last evening making a little voodoo doll of him,…… Continue reading A little last-minute sewing

Hope Becomes Reality

October 23, 2019October 29, 2019 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

A few years ago, frustrated by never having jeans or pants that were (insert adjective here. i.e. long-enough, comfortable enough, fitting in the waist, fitting in the hips, the right shape), I decided enough was enough and it was time to learn how to make my own pants. It was a big part of my…… Continue reading Hope Becomes Reality

Awww… pants!

August 9, 2019 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

In January, I bid many of my freelance clients farewell, and accepted a full-time consulting position in San Ramon. It’s been a busy transition, shuffling school, a full-time job, the commute, my family, and volunteer work. And at the moment, I have foster kittens, which just complicates everything! I’m now 2/3 of the way through…… Continue reading Awww… pants!

The tailored coat.

May 22, 2019April 7, 2020 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

I hadn’t thought, when I initially designed my tailored jacket, that in the end it would be constructed of  119 individually cut pieces. Twelve panels, plus a notched collar, two piece sleeves and welt pockets didn’t seem too adventurous. The perils of being a newcomer to tailoring, I suppose.  My class was fantastic. As usual,…… Continue reading The tailored coat.

“Good Enough” isn’t Good

October 2, 2018 erinnlarsen1 Comment

I’m really picky about color. In every aspect of my life. From my design work, to the interior of my house, to the specific shade of my black clothing. Blame it on the extra cones in my eyes, whatever. I just see color a little differently. My right eye sees things with a slightly warmer…… Continue reading “Good Enough” isn’t Good

Time passes, things change.

October 1, 2018October 1, 2018 erinnlarsen1 Comment

I’m not going to apologize for my absence these last few months, it’s been a busy time. In June, I left my studio space at PHOENIX Alameda. Not a day later, our landlord decided he wanted to give the house we were living in to his son, and so we received notice to vacate. We…… Continue reading Time passes, things change.

I just received notice that I have been accepted as a teacher/vendor at the Alameda Mini-Maker Faire! If you are in town on July 8, please swing by the faire and check out my booth— Refashioning History! I’ll be showing some examples of what you can do with clothing items you might have otherwise tossed,…… Continue reading Great news!

Lunchtime Reading

May 1, 2018May 1, 2018 erinnlarsenLeave a comment

My days are so packed full with work and school, it’s rare that I get a chance to read. So I have started using my lunch break for just this purpose. I was really excited to receive my copy of Feedsacks: The Colorful History of a Frugal Fabric in yesterday’s mail. At almost 600 pages…… Continue reading Lunchtime Reading
